I love McKinney, Texas. Everyone knows this, because I talk about it ALL THE TIME. I’m a realtor and I specialize in our sweet town because I think it’s the best place ever to live! I even started this blog just to share all of the great things about McKinney! I’ve talked about neighborhoods, schools, restaurants, businesses… all the things that make McKinney great!
But, I started thinking the other day… what really sets McKinney apart from other towns is so much more than our local shops and restaurants – it’s the heart of the people that live here. I started thinking about some of the amazing people I know who live and work in McKinney and Denise was one of the first people that popped into my mind.
Denise and I met way back in high school when we attended the same Baptist church in Coppell. Several years and many kids later, we reconnected in McKinney and I was really excited to sit down and talk about what she’s doing now!
Several years ago, Denise, along with her husband Bruce, recognized a need in our community and took action. The need was providing practical support to families that foster children. They started Embrace as a way to “connect willing hands with opportunities to serve children in foster, adoptive and kinship care.” The non-profit organization now provides direct services to children and families in Collin County. Check out the video to learn more about what they do:
If you’re interested in ways to support Embrace and our local foster families, check out their upcoming events.
July 28th – Embrace Family Night at Frisco Rough Riders. People can purchase discounted tickets for their family and that helps send a foster child and their family to the game.
August 29th – Texas Take Aim Against Child Abuse Charity Clay Shoot benefitting Embrace
